Meeting Myself Where I Am…

Through my tired eyes
I see the journey is much longer…

Why don’t I use the map?
Is there a quicker way?

Why don’t I ask for help?
Is there an easier way?

Why don’t I want to go down that road?
What do I gain from staying on this road?

Why do I resist what I know to be true?

Isn’t that the harder way??

Meeting myself where I am
I can find the “middle way” and

I can walk on.

A Calling

What scares you?
What lights you up?

What possibilities do you see –
Then quickly look away?

What calls you?
What knows you?
Your Vision. Desire. Dream. Knowing.
Step forward toward

Vantage Point…Sixth Chakra

From my vantage point
I begin to see
But from a deeper place…
A knowing place

I start to see the bigger picture
With perspective
I came to stillness
And found my inner wisdom
Waiting for me.
Knowing I would eventually get there…
It waited…patiently.

The Eye of the Storm

This week where I live there was a tornado warning and it brought to mind the idea of how we like to think we are in control, but we realize the power of nature and that in truth all we have control over is the present moment and our own actions or thoughts.

Big storms, hurricanes and tornadoes have a calm center and we hear the saying “in the eye of the storm” . The eye is calm with the outer winds circling around it. Just like in life with all the chaos spinning around and information overload, we can get distracted, overwhelmed and feel that chaos internally. I was thinking about the storms of our life…people or kids arguing around us or pets , financial issues, job or career issues are like “squalls” or a cold front moving in with a relationship , raining down and showering us with good things, but also it can be raining difficulties. It gets hard to see through all of that. Yoga helps us to come to the present moment and be in the eye of the storm of our life. There is some serenity there. Coming to the eye of our storm helps us get calm, get clarity to prepare for things we need to, maybe let go of what can’t be changed…or just recognize that its not ok, but we will get through it. We can use our intuition to see what our inner wisdom wants to tell us, see the vision for our life, allow it to light the way so we can see clearly.

There are people who fly into the storm to get the knowledge for us to know how strong a storm is, measure the distance and integrity of the storm… Not a job I would want anytime soon! However through Yoga and meditation we can come to our own center and check in with our internal GPS… learning to navigate life by trusting our inner wisdom and intuition.

Quotes for this week

A cyclone derives its power from a calm center…so does a person – Norman Vincent Peale

I think Yoga and meditation when I read this:

When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s just what this storm is all about.” – Haruki Murakami

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain. – Vivian Greene

There’s always another storm. It’s the way the world works. Snowstorms, rainstorms, windstorms, sandstorms and firestorms. Some are fierce and others are small. You have to deal with each one separately, but you need to keep an eye on whats brewing for tomorrow. – Maria V. Snyder

Join me for classes this week – we will be working with this theme in our Yoga postures.   Namaste – Kerry
